The Beginning
The Beginning is a shared home for grassroots, legacy, and emerging organizations working together to support youth and families. It’s a collaborative hub where community leaders, mentors, and healers build strength through connection. Five partner organizations currently call The Beginning home, and as we grow our space and capacity, we’ll continue to welcome new partners whose missions align with ours.
Our Home
Located in Milwaukee’s Historic Mitchell Street neighborhood, inside the Schuster Lofts building, The Beginning sits at the heart of both challenge and possibility. This area has one the highest overdose rate in the state and one of the largest youth populations. Our presence here is intentional—because healing, opportunity, and belonging must begin where they’re needed most.
Our Mission
Our mission is not just to provide a space but to be one — a living, breathing hub where community organizations of all kinds can succeed, struggle, and strive together. Through our pillars of sharing resources, celebrating wins, and holding each other accountable, we cultivate collaboration that feels real, not transactional. We believe we can only succeed through constant engagement — and we only fail when we isolate ourselves in silos and fear.
