About Us
The Beginning is a new collaborative hub of smaller grassroots, legacy, and upstream community organizations largely focused on youth and family efforts. It currently consists of seven partner organizations. As we increase space and capacity, we will bring on more strategically aligned partners.
Our Home
The building The Beginning is in is a 70k sq ft historical structure. We are working with the owner to create a Mecca for youth justice, reentry, and community stability. We use a block, city, and neighborhood analogy. The Beginning is the house. The building is the block with several partners (Public Allies, the Cinderella Project, and A Reliable Cate Coordinator). The neighborhood is just that: the Historic Mitchell neighborhood surrounding our building, which has the most overdoses in our state.
Our Goals
The goal is nothing less than a systems change that will impact generations in that area and challenge the way community organizations work together, challenge each other, and challenge funders to ask better questions.
